MelissaMelissa Crystal O'Neil, born on July 12, 1988[1], is a Canadian singer/actress from Canada. In 2005, O'Neil won the third season of Canadian Idol, the first Canadian female to be a winner of. As an actress, she is well-known for her roles as Two or Rebecca and Portia Lin on the Syfy science fiction series Dark Matter and as Officer Lucy Chen on the ABC police procedural drama The Rookie.Although she was praised highly by the judges, she experienced major setbacks in both the Top 10 and Top 9 weeks of the finals, being voted into both the bottom three and bottom two, respectively. The judges were shocked at this and advised viewers to choose Melissa for her singing talents. Then, O'Neil never fell back in the bottom three, despite repeatedly receiving praise for her performances, and the judge Zack Werner declaring that she was "a chance to win the whole contest". O'Neil as well as Rex Goudie made it to the final two of the competition on September 7 in 2005. After another impressive performance, Werner declared that "The King [Kalan Porter] is dead Long live Queen".
