Catherine Ford is a British actress, born in Bloomsbury. When her father's departure from her family, she was raised to maturity by her mother, godparents, and grandmother. When she was a young girl she was suffering from an obsessive compulsive disorder and suffered anxiety linked to word associations. Ford started acting in her teens, and was part of the National Youth Theatre. Ford was accepted into the Sylvia Young Theatre School. But after just one week she decided it wasn't the right fit for her. Ford, instead of applying for admission to Central School of Speech and Drama and securing a place at the third time she applied for and was awarded an admission to the Central School of Speech and Drama. Shaun Dingwall played Pete Tyler on Doctor Who. Ford received her degree in 1993. However, prior to that, Ford made a television debut when she appeared as a character in Surgical Spirit in an episode that aired in 1991. Ford took the professional name Catherine Tate. Tate was featured in such programs on television as The Bill, Men Behaving Badly as well as London Burning. Tate also regularly worked in theatre and eventually joined in the Royal Shakespeare Company during its season between 2000 and 2001. Tate's stand-up comedy style, which she began adding to her set in 1996, quickly gained her admiration.
