Patricia Apollonia Kotero was an American singer and model from the United States. Also, she was co-starring with Prince in his 1984 movie Purple Rain. Her most famous work is the lead in Prince's 1984 Purple Rain film and lead singer in the girl-group Apollonia 6 In the 80s, the singer-actress Prince was christened Apollonia became just one of many female artists to gain from their association with him. Patricia Kotero, born 1959 in Santa Monica California began her career as an actress and model. In the late 70s she appeared on CHiPS. In 1984, Patricia Kotero was chosen to play the lead woman in the movie Prince's Purple Rain. (During this period of time, he also changed her name.) Her replacement was Vanity as a member of the female trio Vanity 6 who performed in the movie with Apollonia 6 under their name. They scored a small smash with Sex Shooter however it was in the role of Prince's duet partner in Take Me with You from the soundtrack that she made an impact on the charts. Kotero was able to break up with Prince following a falling out about the fate of Apollonia 6. Following her appearance in minor movies (and reportedly refusing to be a part in The Purple Rain film Under the Cherry Moon), she was a part of the 1985-86 evening drama Falcon Crest. Apollonia released her first album in 1988, but it was an average mix of dance and R&B music which did not impress the people. It quickly vanished completely from the public's view. During the following decade, she continued to be active as an actress (if somewhat unnoticed), with minor television roles, films as well as an exercise video. Apollonia made a bilingual CD called Stay with Me in 1997. Later, she returned to the school and earned a filmmaking degree, and formed her own production company often working in the field of children's TV. Apollonia Kotero wears many hats.
